Sequels:
In November 2006 a direct continuation sequel of the first movie was released under the title Death Note: The Last Name. In February 2008, the side story movies titled L: Change the World was released, based on the events that occurred within the Death Note: The Last Name. In September 2016, leading up to the new movie, a 3 episode mini-series titled Death Note New Generation was released. In October 2016, a new sequel to the original movie trilogy was released titled Death Note: Light up the New World.
Other Adaptations:
From July through September 2015 a new Japanese TV series adaptation was released under the title of Death Note.
An American movie adaptation of the series premiered in August 2017 under the title of Death Note. A sequel to this American movie is also in development.
